The Twelve Sons of Israel
Twelve studies, one per son, in birth order. Each reads the name given at birth, the deathbed blessing in Genesis 49, and what the tribe becomes centuries later — Reuben's forfeited birthright, Levi's curse turned to priesthood, Judah's line running to the Lion of Revelation, and the quiet tribes whose inherited ground turned out to be where the Light of the World would stand.
- 01ReubenUnstable as water — the firstborn who lost it, and still tried to do right
- 02SimeonAnger untethered from restraint — and the scattering Jacob spoke over him comes literally true
- 03LeviThe same fierce zeal that curses you in one moment can consecrate you in the next
- 04JudahFrom betrayer to substitute — the Lion of the tribe of Judah
- 05DanA serpent by the way — power without direction eventually strikes at whatever's nearest
- 06NaphtaliA hind let loose — the ground mattered more than anyone standing on it could have guessed
- 07GadA troop shall overcome him, but he shall overcome at the last
- 08AsherHappy am I — not every faithful life needs a crisis to justify itself
- 09IssacharA strong ass bowing to bear — and a tribe later known for understanding the times
- 10ZebulunHe just dwelt where he was told to dwell — and it became the ground the Light stood on
- 11JosephYe thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good
- 12BenjaminSon of my sorrow, renamed son of the right hand
